Slack and Microsoft Teams

Post a summary to a channel when a candidate finishes an assessment, what the summary shows, and how to set each one up.

Last updated 6 October 2026

Slack and Microsoft Teams can each post a short summary to a channel when a candidate finishes an assessment, so your team sees it where they already work. No code is needed for either.

Account menu, then Integrations.

What the summary shows

One message per candidate, once they have finished every test in the assessment. It names the candidate and the assessment, then lists each test:

  • Unlocked results show the score, how many questions were answered and correct out of the total, and the minutes taken.
  • Locked results show no score. The message says the result is locked and can be unlocked on the candidate's profile.
  • Results still being checked say the result is pending. We wait a few minutes for the unlock check to finish before posting, and only post "pending" if it has not finished by then.

Each message has a button that opens the candidate's profile in Test Candidates. Opening it still needs a Test Candidates sign-in.

A score never appears in a channel before the result is unlocked. See unlock results.

Slack

Connecting Slack

  1. In the Slack section, choose Add to Slack.
  2. Slack asks you to approve the connection for your Slack workspace.
  3. You come back to Test Candidates, connected.

If the page says the Slack link has expired, start again from Add to Slack.

Choosing channels

Choose a default channel. Summaries for every assessment go there.

You can also choose a channel for a single assessment. Summaries for that assessment go to its own channel instead of the default, which suits teams where each hiring manager has a channel. Remove the assessment's channel and its summaries go back to the default.

Disconnecting Slack

Choose Disconnect in the Slack section. Summaries to Slack stop.

Microsoft Teams

Teams works through a webhook URL that you create in Teams and paste into Test Candidates. Summaries go to the channel that URL posts to. There is one Teams URL for the whole workspace.

Connecting Teams

  1. In Microsoft Teams, use the Workflows app to create a workflow that posts to a channel when a webhook request is received, and copy the URL it gives you.
  2. In the Microsoft Teams section of Integrations, paste the URL into Webhook URL and save. Teams summaries are turned on when you save a URL.
  3. Use Send test to post a test card to the channel and check it arrives.

We accept HTTPS URLs from Teams Workflows and Power Automate, and from the older Office 365 incoming webhooks. Other addresses are refused.

Turning Teams off and on

The on and off switch pauses summaries without removing the URL. Remove deletes the URL; to reconnect, paste a URL again.

Keep the URL private

Anyone holding a Teams webhook URL can post into that channel. Once saved, we show only its host name, never the full URL. To change it, paste a new URL in its place.

If Teams does not accept a summary, we try again twice more over the next few minutes.

Slack, Teams or a webhook

Slack and Teams tell people. A webhook tells a system. You can use all three at once; they do not affect each other.
