Pinpoint

Send a Test Candidates assessment to a candidate from inside Pinpoint, by hand or automatically when they reach a stage, and see the result on their application.

Last updated 19 October 2026

With the Pinpoint integration you send an assessment to a candidate from their application in Pinpoint, the candidate gets the usual Test Candidates invitation, and the result comes back onto the application when they finish. You choose the assessment inside Pinpoint, either each time you send one or once for a pipeline stage, so there is nothing to map between the two systems.

Connect

  1. In Test Candidates, go to Settings, then Integrations, find Pinpoint and click Connect. Copy the token it shows. It is shown once; if you lose it, click Connect again for a new one.
  2. In Pinpoint, go to Settings, then Integrations, then My Plugins, find Test Candidates and click Configure. If Test Candidates is not listed, ask Pinpoint support to add it to your account.
  3. Paste the token into Test Candidates partner token and save.

Only admins can connect. The token lets Pinpoint list your assessments and send candidates to them, so treat it like a password. Pinpoint stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

Send an assessment

  1. In Pinpoint, open the candidate's application on the job you are hiring for.
  2. Click Send Test Candidates assessment.
  3. Choose the assessment. The list is your open assessments in Test Candidates; closed assessments and ones past their deadline are not shown.
  4. Check the candidate's name and email address, then click Send.

Use one assessment per role, so the candidates in Test Candidates line up with the job in Pinpoint.

Send automatically from a stage

You can have Pinpoint send the assessment whenever a candidate reaches a stage, including when you move several candidates at once.

  1. In Pinpoint, edit the job's hiring workflow and open the stage.
  2. Click Add stage action and choose Send Test Candidates assessment.
  3. Choose the assessment and save.

From then on, every candidate moved into that stage is invited. A candidate who was already invited to that assessment is not invited again.

What the candidate gets

The candidate receives the same invitation email Test Candidates always sends, with their link to start. Pinpoint does not email them about the assessment. If the candidate was already invited to that assessment, they are not invited again, and the assessment in Pinpoint still fills in when they finish.

What comes back, and when

An assessment card appears on the candidate's application in Pinpoint as soon as it is sent, with the status Pending. When the candidate finishes every test on the assessment, the card changes to Completed and shows:

  • the overall score, with each test's score listed underneath;
  • a link to the full report in Test Candidates.

Pinpoint emails the hiring team when the result first arrives. Results normally arrive within a few minutes of the candidate finishing.

Locked results

Scores only come through once the result is unlocked, the same as everywhere else in Test Candidates. If the candidate finishes while the result is still locked, the card in Pinpoint says Completed with no score, and a line saying the result is locked. Unlock it in Test Candidates and the scores appear in Pinpoint shortly after, without a second email. Nothing you see in Pinpoint is ever a score from a locked result.

Disconnect

In Test Candidates, go to Settings, then Integrations, Pinpoint, and click Disconnect. The token stops working at once: Pinpoint can no longer list your assessments or send candidates, and no further results are written to Pinpoint. Candidates already invited can still finish, and their results stay in Test Candidates.

To remove the plugin from the Pinpoint side as well, clear the token in the plugin's configuration in Pinpoint, or ask Pinpoint support to remove it.

If something goes wrong

  • Pinpoint shows "Partner token not recognised". Copy a fresh token from Test Candidates and paste it into the plugin configuration in Pinpoint again. A token stops working when you disconnect, or when you click Connect again for a new one.
  • The assessment is not in the list. It is closed, past its deadline, or in a different Test Candidates workspace from the one that issued the token.
  • The result has not appeared. Check that the candidate has finished every test on the assessment, and whether the result is still locked.
