JazzHR

Invite candidates to an assessment when they reach a step in JazzHR, and see the result as a note on their profile.

Last updated 19 October 2026

Connect JazzHR and Test Candidates invites a candidate to an assessment the moment they enter a workflow step you choose. When they finish, the result is written to their JazzHR profile as a note.

Before you start

  • You need to be an admin in both JazzHR and Test Candidates.
  • Your JazzHR plan must include the API. The key is on the JazzHR Settings page under Integrations.
  • Anyone with the key can read your JazzHR candidates, so keep it private. Test Candidates stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

Connect

  1. In JazzHR, go to Settings, then Integrations, and copy your API key.
  2. In Test Candidates, go to Settings, then Integrations, find JazzHR and click Connect.
  3. Paste the key. Test Candidates checks it with JazzHR before saving anything, and shows the account it connected to.

Choose the step and the assessment

  1. On the JazzHR card, click Add trigger.
  2. Pick a workflow step. The list shows the steps of every live workflow in your JazzHR account, by name. If two workflows share a step name, a trigger on that name fires for both; add a job to the trigger to narrow it.
  3. Pick the assessment to invite them to, and save.

The step is matched by name, so if you rename a step in JazzHR, edit the trigger afterwards.

Tell JazzHR where to send candidates

Test Candidates also checks JazzHR every few minutes for candidates in a triggered step, so invitations go out even if you skip this part. Adding the webhook below makes them go out straight away.

  1. On the JazzHR card in Test Candidates, copy the events URL. The code after the last slash is your secret key for the next step.
  2. In JazzHR, go to Settings, then Integrations, and click Add Custom Integration.
  3. Enter a name such as "Test Candidates", paste the events URL into the Integration URL field, and paste the code from the end of the URL into Secret Key. Save. JazzHR sends a test message to the URL and only saves the integration if Test Candidates answers it, so a mistyped URL or secret shows up here.
  4. Open the workflow step you chose as a trigger and add a Workflow Helper that sends candidates to the new integration when they enter the step.

Each connection has its own URL. If you disconnect and connect again, copy the new URL into JazzHR.

What the candidate gets

The usual Test Candidates invitation email, with your workspace name and branding, exactly as if you had invited them by hand. Someone already invited to that assessment is not invited again, however many times they pass through the step.

What comes back, and when

When the candidate completes the assessment, Test Candidates adds a note to their JazzHR profile, visible to everyone in your account. The note names the assessment, lists each test with its score, and links to the full report in Test Candidates.

Locked results

If a result is locked, the note says the candidate has finished and that the result is locked, with a link to the report. It carries no scores. When you unlock the result in Test Candidates, a second note is added with the scores. Scores never reach JazzHR before you have unlocked them.

Disconnect

On the JazzHR card, click Disconnect. Test Candidates deletes the stored key and stops inviting and writing back. Candidates already invited can still finish, and their results stay in Test Candidates. In JazzHR, remove the Workflow Helper and the custom integration, or they will keep sending candidates to a URL that no longer answers.
