You do not need anything unusual. A laptop or desktop computer, a modern browser and a connection you trust will do.
Which browser to use
Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Keeping it up to date matters more than which one you pick.
If you have an extension that blocks scripts, or a work laptop with tight security settings, those can stop the test loading. See the test will not load.
Computer or phone
The assessment works on a phone, and the questions are laid out to be readable on a small screen. Even so, a laptop or desktop is worth finding if you can. Some questions include a table or a chart, and those are easier to read on a larger screen when there is a clock running.
If a phone is genuinely your only option, it will work. Hold it upright, and give yourself somewhere quiet to sit.
Your internet connection
This is the part that matters most, because the clock does not pause if your connection drops. See how your answers are saved.
Your answers are saved to our servers as you give them, so a brief drop will not lose work you have already done. A long one costs you time you cannot get back.
Somewhere with a stable connection is worth more than somewhere convenient. If you are choosing between a fast connection and a quiet room, take the quiet room with a connection that is merely adequate: dropping out mid test is worse than background noise.
Before you begin a test
- Close anything that might interrupt you, including notifications.
- Have paper and a pen if you like working that way, though there is a calculator and a rough paper panel built in. See the calculator and rough paper.
- Give yourself a clear run at it rather than starting between two other things.
