This is a question with an honest answer that surprises people: it depends on the employer, and results are not deleted automatically.
Why the employer decides
The organisation that invited you commissioned the assessment and is responsible for the recruitment data it holds. We run the assessment on their behalf. So the retention period is theirs to set, and their privacy notice should explain it.
What we recommend to employers
We advise employers to delete unsuccessful candidates' recruitment data six months after the decision, unless they have a documented reason to keep it longer. Successful candidates' information usually moves into the employer's normal employment records.
That is guidance we give, not a switch that fires on its own. Nothing in Test Candidates deletes records automatically at six months.
Finding out for a specific application
Ask the employer, or read their privacy notice. They will know what they do, and they are the ones who can act on it.
Asking for your data to be deleted
You can ask. Because the employer controls the assessment data, the request normally goes to them.
If you are not sure who to ask, or you have asked and got nowhere, email us at support@testcandidates.com. We will help direct the request to the right place and support the employer in acting on it.
Records we hold in our own right
Separately from the employer's recruitment data, we keep some records to run the service, answer support enquiries and meet legal and accounting obligations. How long depends on the purpose. If you want the retention period for a particular record, ask us and we will tell you.
Full detail is in the privacy policy.
